Poon

1 photo for every year I’ve known you Our friendship is as old as our volleyball careers! ha ha. Habby Birthday Poony, thank you for being the silent but constant friend in my life. For introducing me to the world of “photoshop” aka PICASA(in sec4, ha ha), the long hours in the Art Room (sneaking in chicken burgers and paus), crashing your house till latelatelate on school nights, loving me despite all the bad habits I’ve picked up and showing me what it means to be patient.
Remember that day when I snuck your batik canvas out of the storeroom to help you with your development work, but only got you angry at me for messing with your stuff? I almost wish I could do something like that again, but unfortunately…I don’t know how to create websites and definitely can’t do shit for your internship work :/ … Don’t worry I’m thinking of the best present I can buy/make/create for you. Missyoumanymany, and happy 20th!

Not too bad considering how I’ve never tasted this kind of positioning in a non-Hildan team before. The trainings/games/late-night Milo-Dinos were certainly worth it all. (Almost) every game was well played and the joy of playing with this team is something I definitely miss about volleyball. How we’d all constantly be yelling at each other, getting angry at referees (whoops), and all gathering for a team-hug at every point won was so… satisfying. I dare say it’s been ages since I last felt this kind of energy from any one team I’ve been in. Where every single person is highly committed (some even fainting from lack of sleep/food) and despite the major age-gap/current positions in life, able to play as one. When I’d leave the court half-dead and dripping but never feeling more alive.
Okay, getting a bit melodramatic here. I really AM sad this season is over. Can’t wait for SHA 2012!

Some call them Opponents. I call them Victims.

I was too cute to be a cheerleader, so now I play volleyball.

If volleyball was easy, they’d call it football.

I don’t want to forget.
The 53 Commandments of Running by Joe Kelly.
1. Don’t be a whiner. Nobody likes a whiner, not even other whiners.
2. Walking out the door is often the toughest part of a run.
3. Don’t make running your life. Make it part of your life.
4. During group training runs, don’t let anyone run alone.
5. Keep promises, especially ones made to yourself.
6. When doing group runs, start on time no matter who’s missing.
7. The faster you are the less you should talk about your times.
8. Keep a quarter in your pocket. One day you’ll need to call for a ride.
9. Don’t compare yourself to other runners.
10. All runners are equal, some are just faster than others.
11. Keep in mind that the later in the day it gets, the more likely it is that you won’t run.
12. For a change of pace, get driven out and then run back.
13. If it was easy, everybody would be a runner.
14. When standing in starting lines, remind yourself how fortunate you are to be there.
15. Getting out of shape is much easier than getting into shape.
16. A bad day of running still beats a good day at work.
17. Talk like a runner. “Singlets” are worn on warm days. “Tank tops” are worn to the beach.
18. Don’t talk about your running injuries. People don’t want to hear about your sore knee or black toe.
19. Don’t always run alone.
20. Don’t always run with people.
21. Approach running as if the quality of your life depended on it.
22. No matter how slow you run it is still faster than someone sitting on a couch.
23. Keep in mind that the harder you run during training, the luckier you’ll get during racing.
24. Races aren’t just for those who can run fast.
25. There are no shortcuts to running excellence.
SHSS related tweets — A compilation

So someone, somewhere, decided to start a school-based tweet war in which you start tweeting about your secondary school and tagging it accordingly. The following are tweets by me, I had to censor some in case they Google and find my blog, if you’re a true blue Hildan you’d know exactly who I’m referring to. Enjoy.

Sawadee Ka~ Got off the plane with the current teammates and rushed to (a fantastic) dinner with the ex-teammates. Time spent with both teams was good and now I need to unpack *all* my stuff, including my less than sweet-smelling training kits. Have a great Christmas everyone! Will *try* to blog about my thailand trip.
P.s. Poon, You were greatly missed =[[

this is my life.

This past few days have been rather interesting. so I thought i’d document it all out. beware – content may cause one to seriously consider the possibility that I am mentally challenged of some sort.
I assure you I am not.
I think.
